RESTRUCTURE RESURFACE:
Restructure Resurface focuses on the transformation of discarded materials, specifically packaging foam. The process used turned unwanted materials into something intentional and thoughtful, giving them a second purpose. The collection of discarded materials, the time I spent working around them, thinking about them, and the transformative process is conceptually relevant to the overall piece. Visually the forms reference terrain and wind and water movements across ice, water, sand, and rock. The tension surrounding form, process, and material speaks to my focus on environmental issues and acknowledgment of my own complicity as a human in the 21st century.
